fell on the left hip at 4 months
« on: May 11, 2012, 11:12:46 AM »
Wasn't paying attention to my dishwasher and the door snuck up and took my legs out from under me.  I landed directly on the incision site.  I can walk.  Feeling sore and some tingling, etc.  Been icing.  Would I know if womething serious happened?  I went down lide a felled tree on tile.

Chances are nothing happened except you wounded your pride  LOL.

I fell on wet newspaper post op in the middle of the winter following my surgery.  I bounced up took a few steps, I was sore for a couple of days but I was fine.

You would be surprised how well placed your device is right now and it will be really solid at 1 year.

So the quick answer is probably not, if you get any other syptoms of an issue call your doctor and see what they say.

At 4 months the bone is growing into the device so a one off whack like a fall will be highly unlikey to do any long term damage to the device.

Seems like we all do something that we think may hurt our new hip whether it is falling or overdoing an activity.  My experience is that whatever I did, my hip usually felt better after 3 day and I would realize that I didn't mess it up.

I would think that even some minor fracturing of the bone would cause tremendous pain.  It would probably just be some muscle strains.  Watch for swelling and intense redness.

Best wishes.
