Burning sensation
« on: May 11, 2012, 09:12:09 PM »
I am six weeks post op and I am having a burning sensation on my incision site.  Is this normal?
It's not super painful but it's new so I was a bit concerned.  Anyone else have this?

Very normal.  I had this type of sensation for months.  My guess is that whenever you break up or stretch the scar tissue you will feel this.

My understanding is that if there is anything wrong with the bone it will be very painful.  Sharp pain is bad, dull pain is generally just muscle soreness.

Best wishes.

I agree with Dan.  You'll get some different feelings as you heal and we all get different minor pains.  Anything really painfull, call the doctor.

I "heard" nerves grow at 1mm/month and have been having some 'sensations' in my scar/surgical area recently so chocking it up to that.

If the site is red and or hot I would be concerned for infection. Keep an eye on it.
