My scar!
« on: June 01, 2012, 03:50:38 PM »
I have posted a pic of my scar 2 days post op in the gallery. I am quite proud of it, it's huge lol. My resurfacing was carried out posterior hence why my scar is on my buttock. It is healing nicely now tho.  I am surprised no one else has posted a pic of their war wound. Rach

It makes the exposeure and component placement easier with a big hole it think. But I had rather a lot of muscle to cut through as well

Lol when I asked about cutting through my muscle I was told that they didn't cut it, they stretched the muscle and worked their way through the muscle rather than cutting it. I think I rather not know lol

That's what my doctor said ''spreading the muscles instead of cutting''.  I think that's why I've had such a quick recovery.

How are you feeling?

From the videos I've watched of ops it defiantly looks like they cut it! But they divide it vertically so they are separating fibres as opposed to cutting at 90 degrees to them. I might be wrong tho I frequently am! ;D

Oh no I am not brave enough to watch a video. He told me my left hip wasnt great although it doesn't hurt if I watched a video and then knew what I had to go through, no thanks lol.

I am healing amazingly well. My scar gets a bit tight so I have been moisturising it after a shower. Using one crutch in the house and no limp, if I do start to limp I use two crutches. When I go out I use two crutches. I do have a bit of that clunking I think u call it but it doesn't hurt and is only now and again.  I also slept on my side for a few hours with a pillow between my legs last night which was a welcome relief lol. Also during surgery they recycled my blood. How amazing is that!!! All my lost blood was put through a machine and given back to me! Not bad for the NHS lol

Holy crap!! I've just taken a look at it Rach.... It looks brutal! Ultimately worth it though :)

I asked about scarring from my possible PAO and apparently I'd have 2 like that  :o

Very impressive, Rach! Mine started at about 7-8 inches and now are fading but look more like 4-5 inches. Great talking point in the locker room while changing to work out.

Hi Rach, not alone over not watching videos!!- Think it`s a guy thing lol
By the way my Dr told me Vit E oil for scars, make sure to get the strong one, It`s
called Cabot`s Vit E oil available online from The Garden Pharmacy Covent Garden,
actually cheaper than Bio and very thick (bit like myself!!)

Not sure I'd ever post my scar (props to you) but I am honestly a little disappointed at how small mine is. It is shaped like a shark bite, but maybe a small sand shark. I'm told it is supposed to be 4" long but it doesn't even look that long. I had hernia surgery fifteen years ago when they really cut you open and that thing was ugly and raised for a year and twice as big as this. Either it's the procedure or Dr. Gross is a magician but I have no idea how this procedure was done with such a small incision. No one who sees it will ever believe that that was major surgery. And this is at just under eight weeks!

I too wonder if I'll ever be able to watch video of a hip resurfacing. I frankly doubt it. I know I never even considered it pre-surgery.

My regards to all.
RHR April 2012.
