How much time.....
« on: October 09, 2012, 02:12:54 AM »
...... have you spent on this site ?  Just curious. After tonight I'll have spent just about 6 days of my life in here :o ;D
During that time I've been up, down, happy, sad, thankfull, pissed, encouraged, depressed, excited, scared, encouraged, defeated, pretty much every emotion I can think of. Also have gotten tons and tons of information, made friends, some in here, some in real life. (I never thought I'd say, "I went surfing today with this guy I meant online"  :o :o ;D) Anyway I noticed how long I've spent on this site and was curious. Thanks Pat !! This place has been invaluable. So.... How long you been in ?

Just over a day. Anyone who goes down this road experiences a wide range of emotions, most of which you have listed. This site plays an important part for my journey. It's so helpful on so many levels.

Twenty days (give or take an hour) of course I leave it logged in while I work, and get back every now and then... more likely about a third of that.

I'm a slacker.  Only 17 hours and 43 minutes.  I lurked for a long time without signing up, soaking up all of the available information provided.

23 days, 14 minutes - I don't stay on all day like I use to, I just read all the posts via emails and then reply when I feel I should.

During that time building the website and fighting the negative news media, people that used surgeons that they wished they didn't, listening to people that wished they had used top surgeons, had metal allergies and problems for unknown reasons, had porn placed all over the discussion group, etc -

"During that time I've been up, down, happy, sad, thankfull, pissed, encouraged, depressed, excited, scared, encouraged, defeated, pretty much every emotion I can think of." LOL   ;D

It's been a long 7 years, but really I am very happy to help as many folks as I can through keeping this website up and running and continuing to grow.  Growing thanks to the many folks in this discussion group.  It takes all of us to get the word out about how great hip resurfacing is.

7 days.  Boy that went fast.  I'm about a month from my 1 year anniversary, that really went fast.  Thank you Pat, for creating this sight and community that allows all of us to share our experiences and support and encourage our hippy friends.

My total is 2 days, 18 hours and 17 minutes, although I have to admit I often open the site and then forget to close it. At any rate, I'd have to say (in spite of a slight bias) it's by far the most interesting and informative site on the topic available on the internet.

3 days, 5 hours -- although I, too, often leave it up and running.

Love the site, love the people, love the positivity.  So much bad stuff is always going on everywhere, and this is definitely one place where people have their cups half full.

Thanks, Pat, and thanks everyone!  Cheers!

My total time logged in is : 9 hours and 45 mins.

Felt like that should be alot longer. But I have to agree, if this site wasn't around I don't think I would have made the choice to have hip resurfacing. I actually tried to go to Bryan Kelly at HSS for another scope of my hips before searching for alternatives online. Even thought of signing up on the government site for experimental processes.

I found a few people in the " Hockey and Skating " section that have gone before me and have returned to what I wanted the most in my life. The return to an active sport lifestyle including my sport of choice: Ice / Roller Hockey.

I also, through the, site had done research on doctors and used the research to choose my surgeon. This site has provided me with all the tools I've needed, before, during, and post surgery :) Oh.. and the people are amazing too!

5 days, 21 hours and 5 minutes. Time well spent. Did a quite bit of lurking prior to sending in my first post over 1.5 years ago.
Pat - This site is gold. Can't say I'm into any other on-line, chat type site ..don't even use facebook!
I don't visit here as much as I used to, but that's because "life is now expanding rather than contracting" (as a mighty fine person once wrote to me on this site... you know who you are  :)). So true - resurfacing has given me my life back and many thousands of others. Why isn't it promoted so much more? Is it simply a matter of time until surgeons & health organisations see the light?
Cherz to you all for your precious time!

Good question B.I.L.L.  I sometimes notice how long I've been on here and it kind of surprises me.  8 days and 22 minutes.

I'm often doing this at lunch at work and I'm often behind a day or so on conversations, being on the West Coast of the US.  Sorry if I come in late sometimes.

Its an interesting thought and its fun to see how much time we do spend here.  Obviously getting new hips is big piece of our lives.  Some of us want to provide our experience and support to others, but also we want to hear other stories and keep up on the latest with HR.  This site is perfect for that, Thanks again Pat, and others.  BTW - those are some profound things you guys said here on this thread.  "expanding not contracting", " half full", B.I.L.L.'s emotions,...

This is a great question, I think its good to reflect on what the forum means to us, what we gained it from it, and so on.  I may not even have gone down the HR road if it wasn't for this forum.  I also feel like passing on the knowledge I've gained and this is the place for it.

I suppose I could have been over at the DieselStop for a few days instead, but those guys aren't quite as lovey dovey as you guys are here  ;)
