First mountain race
« on: May 27, 2013, 09:06:24 PM »
Two days ago, I ran the Wachusett Mountain road race.  3.1 miles up the mountain, then 3.1 miles back down.  I'm not really in mountain racing shape but thought it'd be a good workout and help with sprinting.  I know downhills are bad for the implant; thankfully, there was a grassy shoulder much of the way down, so I made sure to run on that to alleviate the pounding.

Sounds like fun...when is your next track meet?
I don't know why, but I've become so much more comfortable running downhill than uphill.
I was just the opposite prior to surgery.
It's got to be the Hoka's ;D
Heading to NC this weekend for the 70.3 IM.
Forecast 90 degrees a nice 30 degree jump in temp from home.
Excited to see if I have any speed.

Next track meet is in two weeks.  Do you run downhill on roads?  I always look for the grass or dirt on steep downhills now.

Good luck in NC!  Speed in an IM?  I guess its all relative.
