Insurance and Durable Medical Equipment
« on: December 03, 2013, 09:38:15 AM »
It is common to use the DonJoy Iceman products after HR surgery.  I am trying to find out if this is covered by insurance or will I be purchasing this myself? Interested in other experiences on this topic along with other Durable Medical Equipment required for recovery.

Dr. Gross' insurance person told me that only one insurance company - I forget which, but it wasn't Blue Cross / Blue Shield that I have - will cover icing machines.
That said, there may be people on this site with used machines that are willing to sell them for a fraction of the cost of a new one. I bought mine that way on eBay then resold it to another hippie.
The insurance did pay for crutches, but that was about all.
