Dr. Su's Phase II exercises
« on: January 28, 2014, 10:29:07 PM »
I found Dr. Su's website as I was looking for exercises to do to work on ROM.  In the link below, there are PHASE II exercises for those who are 1-4 months post surgery.  I'm 8 weeks out and a  couple of these scare me :-[

Has anyone performed these PHASE II exercises and if so, any comments?

Here's a link to Dr. Gross' Phase II exercises that I followed:

http://www.grossortho.com/forms/Others/Gross%20Phase%20II%20hip%20exercise%20instruction%20sheet%209%208%2010.pdf

That said, I would think that every surgeon has their own protocols and it's best to get their recommendations.

Dr. Gross' link has good information, precautions, and exercises.  I, like others on this site, were released at 6 weeks without a formal PT program.  This is why I am looking on my own and asking others.

Thank-you so much!

Does anyone have any phase1 pt protocol? 2 weeks to go still in gym 5 times a week and dropped a few lbs. working on flexibility and wanting to get in under 200lbs...(fighting weight185 ;)) has any former athlete had concerns about the extra weight pre op? Hard to be really "fit" with a bad hip :(
I have full expectation to fast track but I don't know what to expect weeks1-4... Any advice would be great.
Ps
Being in medicine I will be a great patient so... Yes I will listen to my body. But really I have a positive mentality about the recovery. All advice welcome. I am humble...sometimes lol
