Hello Sean,
Watched that video and got goose bumps. As for me I'm 7 months post op weighing an extra 14 kgs post surgery and gradually working on getting my fitness back. I can't wait for my children to see the fit new me in a few years time.Previously an avid runner but gave it up about 12 years ago when pain first began. Cycling a bit now, swimming and funnily enough a 12 km walk leaves me sore. I draw inspiration from your video and from this forum as well. Life post surgery is so much better. Thanks for posting. Gives me hope it getting my body healthy. Healthy body, healthy mind,
Cheers and all the best. Btw any issues with your other hip?

Sean,
Awesome video and recovery!  So much of what you were struggling with pre-surgery I could relate to! I am now 6 months post-surgery and feel I have "turned to corner"..like I've read many times before, most days I forget that I've had surgery.

Thanks for sharing this...it will give hope and encouragement to us all!

Nice!  I got mine in SC done 7 days before you recall interacting with you a bit on this forum at the time.  Great to see you getting so fit and looking genuinely happy.

I'm also a Dr. Gross patient, about 11 months post op. Yesterday after an especially nice move one of my soccer teammates commented that with the new hip I play like a 20 yr. old! I'm almost 3 times that age, but even accounting for the 'banter' factor, it was nice to hear.

It is really great to feel "normal".

I'm sure a lot of people forget about their hip and have points where they don't think about it...  I have yet to take my new hip for granted.  Sure there are times during the day, or large parts of the day, where I am just doing my job, enjoying life...and I don't "think" about my hip..but I don't think I have gone more than a day without stopping to think "I couldn't do this before surgery" or to just appreciate being pain free.  i really think I appreciate my new hip EVERY DAY.

every time I get in/out of my car - I don't have pain as I bring my left let into the car.  Every time I tie my shoes, I can reach them, and it doesn't hurt.  If I am at the gym...working out... doing a one legged squat!  yeah.. couldn't do THAT before surgery.

any my FAVORITE..going to bed at night.  Relaxing in a comfy bed, nice new clean sheets...and lay back and .... yes....  NOTHING.  quiet.  peaceful.  NO THROBBING pain in my hip.  I can remember being in bed...tossing/turning trying to find a comfy spots...putting pillows between my legs, and no matter what I did it just throbbed and hurt.... i'd get up.. pop more aleve or tramadol.. and hope it stopped hurting enough so I could sleep.  Now I can just lay back and enjoy falling asleep peacefully with no pain.

Glad you all liked the video!  I will do another one at the 4 year mark.. maybe I'll be doing cartwheels or something..  ;)
