Revision Devices
« on: June 24, 2014, 05:31:29 AM »
My BHR's are on their last legs (pun intended!) so I'm expecting revisions.
As my BHR's were necessary because of femoral head collapse due to AVN is it possible to leave the cups in place and replace the femoral head component?
Depending on remaining bone quantity/quality would a BMHR be a possibilty or would I have to have THR's regardless?

Regards,

John

There have been some patients that kept their acetabular cup during a revision. You need to start to ask questions when you talk with surgeons.  I would talk to some of the top experienced surgeons to see what they say.  It is important that the acetabular cup is still well placed in the bone.

Good Luck.
