Finally got some monsoon rains so it was time to hit my favorite trails. Any MTB'ers that want to share rides look me up on Strava: Gene Torrisi, Mesa, AZ

Thanks.

Enjoyed the video.

Living in a wet climate (Wales, UK) it's interesting to see the cacti on your trails.

Are you sure you just had monsoon rains?

The moisture does not last long in the sandy soil here as it saturates quickly and then flows down the arroyos taking the sand with it. A trail can be perfect one day and the next it could be washed out so you have to keep that in mind at all times. We call rain "liquid traction". The northern Sonora Desert only gets about 10" year total. All in about 10 days a year.

Thanks for the explanation - it's quite amazing.

Out of interest just checked out our annual rainfall for comparison - 33 inches where I live on Anglesey, and 176 inches in the nearby Snowdonia national park where mountain biking is quite popular. It rains @ 140 - 180 days per year.
