Hi Hipsters...
« on: September 07, 2014, 08:12:54 PM »
Been a good summer, passed my 3 year mark on 8/29.  Still training for the NYC Marathon and learning with each run.  15 miles at 8:15 pace without stopping was my best on the road last week.  Today I was trying to pick up the average pace a bit and did a 7:58 pace for 13.25 miles on an all trail run today, which would equate to a lot faster on the road but easier on the body.   I was good until 12, then the soreness set in.  It is all about trying to find a happy medium with pace/muscle firing tolerance.  Has little to do with fitness, but specific tolerance at this point.
Doing a 24 hour Adventure Race next weekend which involves up to 29 miles of hike/running, 12 mile kayak and up to 50 miles of mountain biking.  Will post my experience afterward.  Right now I'm trying to find some chocolate covered coffee beans to get me through and keep me awake.
Back to school for the 12yo...yay!

WOW Excellent mate!!! I know what you mean with the muscle soreness. When ive tried to run i get it im pretty certain that its due to my weight, I'm 97kg which is well over what i used to walk around at.

Well the race went well, and the body/hip was great.  We finished 2nd.  24 hours is a long time to be out there racing.  The race terrain and details can only be known if you have done one of these.  As one of the top 4 teams out of 50+ we qualified for the USARA Adventure Race National Championship.  I'm pretty psyched as this is no small feat with or without a BHR.  I'm so very thankful to be where I am at this point.  There is no limit...
