Staples out, gulp
« on: May 10, 2015, 02:45:41 AM »
I am going for removal of staples tomorrow, post op 14, and I counted about 27 of them.

Can anyone explain what to expect? My butt still feels tender around there and I am not looking forward to it :'( (I doubt my doctor is either, to be fair ;) )

I think I had 25, and they came out with no pain or problems. The nurse has a fancy tool which seems to bend the back of each clip and causes the prongs to open wide. Did not feel a thing. By the time I got home a short length of the wound had started to gape a bit, so I stuck closure strips on to hold the skin together. This bit of wound is now invisible, the rest is still a red weal. Next time I shall be ready!

Staple removal was the non event as Pete suggested it might be.

Doc says wound is really neat, and looks in great shape. Happy days.

Thanks Pete. Due also to have clips out next Saturday will go fully prepared maybe not duck tape in hand but will make sure when Nurse removes them I'm supplied with plenty of Tegaderm +pads.
