Fall on resurfaced hip
« on: June 05, 2015, 07:49:25 AM »
Hi there,

I am now 14 weeks post-op.
Great recovery so far until 7 days ago I rolled an ankle while walking & fell onto a gravel surface. I could not prevent the impact of the fall on to my operated side & hit the floor with my elbow, knee & operated hip.
Besides being shocked & bloodied knee,  I am not in any  pain when walking following the fall.
However, the hip joint at the scar site is still sore one week on when pressed.
Just wondering if this is just bruising from the fall event & normal or I potentially could have done some damage to my new hip
Any thoughts or views from similar experiences would be appreciated.

Regards
Syd

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. Check with your doctor to be sure but as far as fractures go they'd be concern if you couldn't put any weight on that leg at all, even a slight amount.

Hi there,

Contacted my surgeon & he advised a precautionary x-ray
Pleased to report that after his review - x-ray looks fine.
Still sore on the hip point & achy.
Feels like a setback after weeks of great progress
Have a follow up appointment with my surgeon later this week to review progress.
Very relieved & pleased I did not screw up his fine work up or ruin my recovery.

Cheers
Syd
