16 Year HR Anniversary with Mr. McMinn 1999
« on: November 11, 2015, 04:56:39 AM »
My right  BHR is sweet sixteen today! And still feels as good as new. The left is just a toddler of two.

Does anyone know of a forum as good as this dealing with knee replacement? When I have replaced all my joints, I'll be fine.

Wow. Just amazing.

David, what kind of stuff have you been getting up to all the years: running? Skiing? Climbing? Para gliding? Etc? It's very reassuring to hear 16 years. We won't all be so lucky of course, but it confirms that this procedure is solid.

I spent the entire time in bed!  ;)

Activities were mainly tennis - lots of it. Plenty of hiking.

My new-found energy encouraged me to go to drama school and train as an actor in my mid-fifties and I worked at that for about ten years.

When I had the other one done fourteen years later, they said the first one looks on X-ray exactly as when implanted. If your surgeon gets it right, they really can last!

I wish everyone as much success with their resurfacings as I have enjoyed.

David - Congratulations on your 16th anniversary.  Great that you dropped by and gave everyone an update.  I hope you have many, many more.  I am coming up on my 10th anniversary in a few months.  We are proof that BHRs work great for many people.

I have a knee site   www.kneesforyou.com

It has a discussion group, but just not active.  I would suggest you search Yahoo health groups or internet for a knee forum.  I did a search and found many.  You might also want to join a partial hip group in case you don't need a full knee replacement.

McMinn does knees as well as many of the top hip resurfacing surgeons.  You can also check with them, if not ask who they would recommend.  I imagine their office would suggest if you can't talk to the surgeon.

Good luck and let us know how things are going.
