Dr John George - Dubai
« on: January 16, 2017, 09:27:42 AM »
Dear all,

I've met Dr John George today in Dubai.
He is an articulation specialist and takes care of many famous sport players (football players or Federer).

Apparently, he is comfortable with hip resurfacing but he would like to test a more conservative approach and more modern technique to postpone the surgery.
I will pass a MRA to have an idea of what is left of my joints and what is the size of the joints.
Then he would like me to go for Magnetic Resonnance bone regeneration. I will open another subject about this technique.

First of all, do you know this surgeon ?
Do you know Magnetic Resonnance bone regeneration ?

Thank you very much

Hi guys,

Quick update. I've tried MBST and then later stem cells treatment.
This was interesting and I could feel the effects. Unfortunately this did not last.

I'm now more than ready to go through the surgery.
Apparently the surgeon Dr John George works with another surgeon Dr Girish Dewnany for the hip surgeries.
He is from India.
Have you heard about him ?

Thanks

Quick update .

It appears that I was booked for a surgery and discovered 5 days before the surgery that the Doctor was planning to do a total hip replacement using polyethylene on metal device, without informing me ...
We've been talking for almost a year with the Doctor about hip resurfacing.
The Doctor called me and told me that HR has been removed from the global market and that they were not doing it anymore. Furthermore, I will only be able to walk and swim after the THR surgery.

I've canceled the surgery of course.
Lucky that I know this forum !

I will not comment further on this ...

I can remove the topic if you think it's not the right place here, but I'm happy to let it there to inform people as well.

Good thing you checked. I would be very angry, malpractice angry, if some doctor did a switch like that on me. I understand that we can't always have what we want as patients, but we do have a right to full disclosure. If the doc had said "you have a 90% chance of getting a HR; if your femoral head looks bad, I'll have to convert to THR," that would be one thing. But if he never intended to give me an HR, that would be another.

(And as an aside, I will say one of the things I really liked about Dr Gross was that he gave me an informed consent document that listed all the complications his patients had suffered and the frequency with which they occurred. I knew the operation wasn't risk free and I knew the kinds of risks I could expect.)
