Hi everyone,
I've been messaging lately about my concern about my high metal levels at 18 months: Co 17.5ug/L and Cr 7.8ug/L. At 1-year they were Co 16ug/L and Cr 7.8ug/L. I'm a 42yo male, with a 50mm right BHR (8/9/2018).
Perhaps it is premature, but the possibility of an early revision is definitely on my mind. Does anyone know if Dr. Pritchett or Dr. McMinn do revisions of the metal acetabular cup to a highly cross-linked poly cup? Is this compatible with the BHR femoral cap? McMinn of course uses the BHR but I think Pritchett uses a different implant.
I'm at HSS w Dr. Su, and he and his team are monitoring this but not seem to be overly concerned. I, of course, *am* concerned. They verified good cup placement with x-ray at my last visit 1/22/20, so no obvious cause of edge loading. I have no pain day-to-day except muscle stiffness in the quad, hip flexor and glute that has been gradually improving since my surgery, which is temporarily made worse after exercise (e.g. strenuous PT, running) or long periods of immobility (e.g. a airplane flight or drive over 2hrs). I have been able to return to aggressive skiing, which was my hope, but I have struggled to build back up to running. Currently, I'm able to run only .75 miles before the first twinge in the TFL region and the glute. I stop running at 1 mile to prevent worsening pain.
Thanks everyone!
