First of all this website has eased my mind about having my hips resurfaced...I am a 42 y.o. male (6-4, 250lbs) ...I am scheduled for my first bi-BHR mid February 2010, and anticipating the second being completed early April...I officiate college and hs basketball...hips have forced me to "sit out" the 2009-2010 season...based on what I have read in these forums, I am optimistic that I can be ready to be back on the court working at full strenght by November...Is that a realistic goal for me?

Hi

If you have been athletic all your life, you might be back to full activity levels by Nov.  Every person heals at their own rate.  There is no way to tell ahead of time.  I know several people than ran marathons at 3 months and 6 months post op - but they are very few and far between.

You will just have to see how your recovery goes.  You will also have to get permission from your surgeon to hit the courts running full speed that early post op.  Most surgeons let people pretty much do what they want at 6 months - but remember you are not fully healed for 1 year.   You would not want to do anything to cause problems and a revision.  It is better to be cautious and be patient than to ruin your new hip resurfacings.

So there is no answer to your question.  Only time will tell as only your body knows how long it will take to heal.  A positive attitude is great - but it doesn't make you heal any faster as much as you want it to.
