 I tried some running the other night-absolutely no chance!
It was one of those very rare moments when the OA pain wasn't quite as bad as usual and I realised there was no one around as I walked back to my van in an almost empty car park.
I made two strides and it was unbearable pain shooting all around the hip. 12 months ago I was still playing squash.
It seems that once the OA gets to a certain level, there's no going back. Roll on 8th August.
You're going great, Danny. I can see the running at 12 months for you will be a real milestone. Keep at it.

35 weeks today! this week I have been away from home with the dog. I've spent the week at my parents. So I have not been going to the gym everyday or cycling. I have however been walking several miles each day with the dog and do you know what I feel way better for it! I think I have neglected walking in favour of the gym and bike. It has been mitigable that I have been less and less aware if the hip this week! With the walking it seems stronger and the distances I can now walk without scar tissue issues is now around 2-3 miles of steady walking. Not monumental by any means but the tortoise wins the race;) my fitness was really bad at the time of my op thanks to over a year of inactivity thanks to the OA but I am now loosing fat I feel fitter and am looking forward to the new year as I will then release the beast!!  ;D

My mum was saying the same thing hern! I really would have struggled with out my old mum and dad! They really were life savers!

Hay mate your very very welcome. I owe a lot to this board and everyone on it as with out finding this great comunity i would not of ended up with a  HR!
You are in the best hands in Mr T!!! He is an amazing surgeon and unless there is some real reason then you will get a BHR. And if you are a very difficult case then you really are in the right hands he has done more BHRs than anyone in the world and is passionate about hip resurfacing.

Great to hear you are feeling good Danny.  You inspired me to get out and do some more walking. 

Hope you continue to feel better and better.  I am about to hit the 8 month mark and literally am just now starting to feel like I may be turning a corner.  Best of luck brother and enjoy those Olympics.

Well the hip has been put through a slightly more rigourous work out the last 2 days ive been cycling a loop of 15-20 miles then hitting the gym doing some more light cardio and then a bit of stretching. The hip feels pretty good my rom has slightly improved the only niggle from the extra activity is some more clunking. But im sure with time and some more massage etc this will pass.

Still get some very light clunking, Danny - mostly when I'm launching into doing something new, like working the heavy bag with kicks. Nowhere near what I had, and now even my "standing in front of the bathroom sink while shaving clunking" is almost nonexistent.

Nope, that was my squeaking. It was a belt which has served its purpose and is now defunct, but left its traces on my psyche as the source for some large scale squeaking one morning that had me ready to call Dr. Snyder in alarm.

My relief at not squeaking outside of my fashion choices was palpable.  ::)

You guys make me giggle! Thank you, it is probably saving my sanity!   I can't wait until I can start challenging my body more than the current " do you think we might make it upstairs?" concerns. I watch your steady improvement with pleasure (and just a wee touch of envy on the bad days) clunks and clicks notwithstanding, you have come a long way. Sal x
