I had my HR on Wednesday with Dr. Mont and everything went well.  I must say the improvements I am feeling every day is amazing!  The first day the thought of just going to the bathroom brought tears to my eyes... now I am moving around no problem.  My operated leg is sore and feels like they put extra lead in the hip (feels so heavy) so sliding in and out of bed I still need assistance.  But for 4 days post-op, I am not complaining!

Christine, great news, sounds like you're progressing well.

Yeah the iron leg thing is tough at first, it goes with time, quickly in the whole scheme, but not quickly when you're going through it.

Congrats on being on the better side of the Resurfacing.  I thought leading up to surgery and the anticipation pre op were the most difficult.  Every day will get easier and easier.  Glad everything went well and be sure to keep us updated as you progress.

Awesome news - glad it went well.
My adice for first 3 weeks - Watch over doing it - especially with the pain killers, it's common (I did over do it). Get in the pool as soon as you can.
You'll be fine & these guys are great support & can answer many questions.

Thanks everyone!  Day 6 isn't as great!  Not sure if it's because I'm not on pain killers 24x7, moving around a little more (by no means over doing it, but went up the steps once), but all the muscles in my operated leg hurt so immensely.  But hopefully Day 7 will be back in the right direction.

I felt the same thing, sore muscles from moving around more.  My gait was very altered prior to surgery due to my bad hip.  As I started to walk more (first two crutches, then one, then cane), I could tell I was working muscles I had not used correctly in a while.  I am just past two weeks surgery and things are calming down a lot.  Good luck!

It's normal to have setback along the way.  You will feel great one day and do way too much.  Then for the next day or two you are sore and tired.  I stopped taking the pain killers (narcotics) on my 2nd day post op.  The nurses were yelling at me to take them on day 3 but I wouldn't.  I feel the sooner you're off that the better you are.  I took the Tylenol as needed for a few more days and felt great when I stopped taking those as well.

Sounds like your progress is going great.  Keep it up and listen to your body.

Woodstock Hippy

It's surprising just how little it takes to over do it in the beginning, but small setbacks only teach you what you can and can't do yet.  For me, it was also the stairs.  I felt great, hit the stairs for two sets and sweelled up that night.   Ice and rest the next day and I was back on the road to recovery.

Just watch yourself, you're doing great.  Is your mother behaving?  Are the kids helping with the dishes?

It's going to be up and down for a bit,Christine, mostly up (I thought) since the OA pain is gone, but you still have to heal and strengthen yourself. Just be patient with it and know that it does get better, and (it may not seem it) fairly quickly.
