New people are interested in how long you stayed in the hospital after your hip resurfacing. The new poll will help answer that question for perspective patients.

My surgery was at 7:20 am Monday and I was released at around 1pm.  I don't feel that this was too soon at all.  I was approved for a three day hospital stay by my insurance.

I tried to vote twice but it won't let me.

First hip - 40 hours I believe
Second hip - tired to beat Dan's record and asked to be released the following morning, earlyish.  I think it about 30 hrs from entering OR to getting in the car (as a passenger).

I would have been out in 3 days but had problems with my INR - blood being tooooooooo thin!  Day 4 got Vitamin K; day 5 got my pint of blood back and was then able to leave.   Learned a lot abou INR.  Normal is 0.8 to 1.2  with coumadin they strive for 2 - 3  I was 6.7 on day 4 when they decided to get serious about it.  Still playing the numbers game, but only one more week to go per my drs' protocols and have a post op appt tomorrow to see if maybe we can stop the maddness.  my poor veins...... :'(

Like Davina, my surgery was 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and I left the hospital around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.  29.5 hours.

I am grateful, too, because my healthcare coverage sent me a notice that they pay for 1 day's stay.  Yikes.  There's no way I could pay for 4 more days (at ~$30,000 per day).

Update:  Just had my 2nd hip done.  Same exact schedule.  In at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday (10-28-2020), and out by (roughly) 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

HOWEVER:  Dr. Gross does the majority of his surgeries as outpatient now.  In those cases, you're out the same day, and spend overnight at the Marriott hotel across from the hospital.  Unfortunately.....and for reasons unknown......my insurance REQUIRED  the overnight stay.  So, basically - again - just under 30 hours.

Had my op at 1700 hours Thursday and was out around the same time on Sunday.  Think I could have gone on the day before if my BP had not been really low.  Really glad to leave for home but amazed at the responses in terms of hours and not days.  Wow!
