I have had my x rays and bone density scans and all seems set for the surgery on my left hip on 20 September subject to the standard pre op checks by the hospital here in England.

We have had an appalling experience here this week - my step-son, Edward, took his own life quite unexpectedly and the funeral will be held on 17 September just before my procedure. Really seems that 2007 is a rotten experience and am banking on the operation going smoothly!

I am very sorry to hear about your step-son.  Let's hope he is at peace now.

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers on September 20. It will be much more difficult with your loss, but at least you will be getting a new hip and not have physical pain any longer.  Unfortunately, the emotional pain will take much longer to heal than your surgery.

I wish you luck and again, am very sorry to hear about your step-son.
