I tripped and fell tonight on my forearms and shin.  Didn't hit the hip, but was just worried about how strong the cup and femur hold up. Anyone else had a fall 4 weeks out? Is it required to get X-rays even with no pain in hip?
Thanks
Joe

I fell twice.  Once going down the stairs while hOlding my 18 month old.  And once off my bike.  The stairs I fell on my butt and the bike I fell on my non operated hip.  My BHR is still in tact.  I did not have any pain in the operated hip and never got an X-ray except for my 3 month X-ray.
I would not worry unless you have pain in the hip.

Joe -

if you search this site you will find a number of stories about people falling on their new hips.  If you haven't seen the x-rays of Spencer's broken femur below his implant due to a bike wreck you need to check it out.  These implants and their installation are very strong.  You are more likely to pull muscles than damage your hip bones or implant.

Best wishes.

double trouble

I fell directly (concrete) on one of my 2 hips (bilateral) 3-4 weeks after surgery. I was able to get up back on my crutches and walked home.
I freaked out, when I contacted my doctor, he asked if I was still walking I said yes, but it hurt. He said it should---I fell on it! He said if I did damage I would be in an ambulance screaming in pain..... told me did not have to come in till my scheduled appoinment, about 2 weeks later. That was 18 months ago and 3 xrays later. You will be fine, look forward to gettin stronger

Thanks DT, went to PT this evening and all was fine!  Hip feels great just a bump in the road.
Thanks again

That's good, Joe - we all have had setbacks, just scale back until you recover and then go on.

Always get in touch or call your surgeon if something feels off - better safe than sorry.

I tripped while walking the dogs in the vineyard behind our home a couple weeks ago, was sacry, but absolutely no harm to either hip.  Landed on the front
