Will of had my hip done this time tomorrow I'm nervous need to sleep as I have to be at the hospital for 715 am early but it's better than later, just going to have my last cup of tea.
I'm just thinking the pain after will be the healing pain only, I'm suffering more each day with the travelling pain down the leg now i know this is the right time, due to the sleepless nights.

Catch you all on the other side soon.
Any advice would be great.

Hey Jacki, you are in good hands and doing the right thing.

It's ok to be nervous, we all were at this point. The best thing to consider is the future.

You will have immediate relief of the OA pain. That will be gone. The remainder is healing pain as you mentioned. It's not easy, but dealing with the current pain is not easy either.

Just focus on a good, painless future which while you'll have to work at it, will lead you to a strong, hip.

I found the surgery itself went incredibly fast for me. The nurses, doctors and attendants were great and calmed my fears. I fell asleep and woke immediately (seemingly) to people telling me everything went well.

I wish the same for you.

Good luck! I am now 15 days post-op. I was also nervous going in for a number of reasons. However, things went very well and, while I am still recovering, I feel like a million bucks!

Jaks111

Thank you or your replies, I have had just over 2hours sleep its the pain that wakes me now which is hard to believe, as the pain has hit me more than ever, it's travelling past the knee now, but staying more in the knee if anyone understands that.

Hang in there. Hopefully you will get immediate relief from that kind of pain when you come out of the surgery.

Jacki,
Best of luck today. You will do great. I had knee pains and aches everyday while dealing with my hip OA. That knee pain will be gone after surgery. Nine weeks post op and my operated leg has no hip or knee pain (recovery, surgical and some minor muscle aches, yes.....but no OA pain).

Keep us updated when you have time.

Jacki,

By now you will have had your surgery.  I hope you can look back and say thank goodness I had this done and I am now on the road to healing.
I have my first doctor's appointment next week with Dr. Brooks in  Cleveland, Ohio.  Assuming I'm a good candidate, I am a few months out from surgery.  I suffer from the pain radiating down the outside of my leg and in front of my knee, just as you describe.  Seems to be the worst while driving.
I pray you had a successful surgery.  Keep your head up and keep your eye on the prize - a life free of hip pain and the ability to be active again!

Hi everyone, I'm here in my hospital bed after having my op on Wednesday morning, all went well with mr treacey, I'm totally shattered though felt great on Wednesday but recovery not as fast as I had hoped but never mind we are all different, today was the 1st out of bed and sat in the chair for an hour I can not walk keep going dizzy and feel sick they have changed my medication I hope that works tomor is a new day I'm fine otherwise even having a wash and using the bed pan tires me out, but I will get there, I'm just physically exhausted maybe I done to much before I came in this is the body resting.
Chat soon jackie.

Congratulations on the new hip.  Most of us are very tired after major surgery.  It is tough on the body and sometimes the emotions too.  Take it easy.  Things will get better soon.

Good Luck and stay in touch when you can.

Congratulations Jackie!!!! That's the worst bit done now  ;D

Your recovery sounds a bit like mine so far. I was sick on the first day and fainted on the second day. I woke up with half the hospital looking down at me! I was up and walking around by day 3 and felt much better. I was also very tired and slept a lot for weeks after.

Give it a couple of days, sleep lots and I'm sure you will be feeling much better. I take it Mr T was happy with how the operation went?
