Welcome to Hip Talk. 

Many people are frightened before surgery. You can see even on this discusison group, stories of many people that went thru surgery and are doing well.  Normally, most people don't have great problems during surgery.  Some have a slower recovery than others.  The hospital and doctor will make sure you are not in pain and you will be watched  very closely.

I can only tell you that I along with many of the 1000+ members on this board have been thru the surgery.  I have never heard anyone say, "I wish I had not done so"   Most are out of the terrible pain from arthritis immediately, then need to work their way thru any pain left from surgery. Some people have very little, while others have more.  If you have pain, the doctors will make sure you have medication to control the pain.

You posted in the one category where there was a lot of negative posting.  Few people have problems with hip resurfacing and it would be better for you to read other sections about people and their recoveries and the athletes section where people are back to doing what they love.

If you have concerns and fears, you should also definitely talk with your surgeon about them.  Be honest and ask questions and get answers.  You mind will be much more at ease.

Please don't worry as much and try to see what a great summer you will have with a new hip and no pain.
