prednisone use and AVN on resurfaced hips

Buddy

I have had two birmingham hips done since July 2008, and they are going GREAT! Could not be happier about the progress, the improvement, the life-changing effects.

Now, I have recently had a serious eye problem that called for the use of prednisone and I went on a 10 day course BEFORE I discovered that prednisone can have damaging impact, in rare cases, on vascular flow to the femoral head, causing Avascular Necrosis (AVN). I talked to my surgeon about it, and he told me that the percentage chance is quite low, and that there is nothing I can do about it now as I already took the steroids. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this subject and can help me to sleep easier.

Best,

Buddy
