How to find legitimate medical travel coordinators/companies?

I am 49 years old and have been told i have osteoarthritis and should consider THR.  However, research has lead me to believe that what i really want is BHR.  I have been searching the net for a company that can help me put together the 'package' for airline, lodging, medical care, etc.  I believe the best way to describe what i want is like 'medical tourism'.  how do i know how to choose a legitimate company?

Welcome to Hip Talk.

Many of us had to travel overseas to get what we wanted.  I did not have insurance, but would have choosen Dr. De Smet anyways. I was 61, female and had a loss of bone density.  I wanted someone really experienced.

You don't need a company to travel to Dr. Bose in India or Dr. De Smet in Belgium.  Vicky Marlow went to India.  She bought a plane ticket and Dr. Bose office helped by giving her info for the hospital and resort.   The same is true with Dr. De Smet.  His office tells you what you need. All yo need to do is buy a plane ticket.

Both Vicky and I have the experience and can help you.  The medical tourism companies charge you.  Some say the don't, but it is built in the bill.

It is not difficult.  Contact the Doctor you want to use and ask what you need to do.  They all have a constant flow of people from overseas.

I would choose the best doctor, then ask them what you need to do and buy a plane ticket.

There are several people that went to Mr. Tracey in the UK and several to McMinn.

You need to decide on which doctor first.  De Smet and Bose will talk to you via email. Send them your story and x-rays in a digital format   .jpg   and they will get back to you.

Vicky and I are getting ready to do the week AAOS meeting in San Francisco March 5-9   We won't be on line too much.  After that, we can help you.  Dr. De Smet will be there, so he won't be answering his emails as quickly.  Dr. Bose is going on a trip and you might not hear right back from him.  Normally they get back to you in a day or so.
