I was surprised how much fun I had rehabilitating from surgery in Gent, Belgium. Here are some photos

Dr. De Smet's hip patients and spouses downtown Gent five days after surgery:

Gent is pretty at night:

Like Disneyland, only real:

My sister and my wife prepare to storm the castle eight days after surgery:

Working the crutch eight days after surgery:

After several hundred stairs, views of downtown Gent

Some German friends came to visit:

Statue points to England in downtown Gent:

In Belgium they worship beer:

Looks like fun, Tim - great that you had a good result and fun. I'm adding Gent to my list of places to visit.

Okay, it's truth or dare time.  Did you drink and beer while you were there on those pain meds???? :o

What's the dare?

In all truthfulness my hip hurt real bad for a few hours after the surgery and I kept myself pretty busy pushing the morphine button for awhile. That night I pushed the button a couple of more times and after that I never used any more pain meds at all (except some mild anti-inflammatory tablets they gave us). I have a whole drawer full of these effervescent codeine tablets that I brought home, unused, from Gent.

On the other hand, before the revision (including one very long, painful week before I underwent the botched resurfacing) there were a few times when the pain went up to 11. But then you didn't ask about that ....
