Hello.  I'm back after a 3 year absence and to make a long story short I never had my hip resurface done by Dr Gross because of some other medical issues.  After 3 years the hip has gotten much worse (to the point where I cannot even use a treadmill for 10 minutes without excruciating pain) and I am having great difficulty controlling the pain at night.  I am revisiting this site to see if there have been any new developments in the hip resurfacing world and I do have a question... Regarding the ceramic and poly hip implants used by Dr Pritchette - why don't more surgeons offer this? Especially with all the MOM hype out there?  Just curious.   Thanks!

:) Hi Claudia. I do know Smith and Nephew have withdrawn their Ceramic HR device as I looked into this with the same question as you.
Some other health stuff (metal issue stuff) I went through.
I did meet a woman 11 years post op when in Ghent recently. She had an Hr MOM put in by Dr De Smet. She had the Hr checked out as her husband was getting an HR.
The Hr device was the same as it was when installed and may last the rest of her life. She was about 55 years young.
So look around find someone who's done heaps of these, a good fit is helpful.
That also may be a good option then decide.
Good luck.
