Incision Pain After Sitting?

I am 3 months post-op Left BHR and the ONLY problem I have really noticed is that after I sit for a while in my office chair or while driving or sitting in the car, my incision seems to be aggravated and can sometimes down right hurt!

Both seats seems to wrap-around me - for support or for some good reason I am sure!   ???  Of course, the car seat has the extra "bonus" of a seat belt to REALLY wrap around me!   ;)

I have found that while sitting in my office chair - there is no way around it - I work in Technical Support - that if I add a pillow to the bottom of my chair to avoid rubbing on the wrap-around part, it seems a little better.  But, my posture for sitting at the computer seems to suffer...   :-\

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and how they helped to resolve it.

It may be also that I am starting to sleep on my right side at night using strategically placed pillows - of course!  But I seem to notice it more after sitting.  I'm not real sure on restrictions for sleeping on the operated side.

I am fortunate to work from home and do not have to drive in the car for long distances other than trips "to town" as we live out in the sticks....

Any and all comments and suggestions will be appreciated!   :)

Thanks everyone!

Hi Marilyn

I have very sensitive skin.  I had an operation when I was 16 years old for a pilenidle cyst - however you spell that - and it still gets sore when I sit in a hard chair.

My hip resurfacing incision is almost 2 1/2 years old and can still be tender when I sit a long time or in a hard chair.  I am not sure it will ever go away for me due to my skin.

It is still even tender at times when I sleep a long time on my operated side.  I have a foam mattress layer to make it softer for me.

I don't think most people have this problem 2 years out, but I do.  I have 3 different chairs in my computer room and cycle between them trying to get comfortable between my incision and my bad back.  I spend huge amounts of time at the computer because of my websites.

So you are not alone.  Hopefully, yours will get better with time.  You are still only 3 months post op.  Use the pillows and memory foam - whatever works for you.  You might as well try to be comfortable.

I had what I assume were adhesions in my incision too.  After I would walk - it would hurt like heck to sit down.  It felt like my incision was pulling apart.  Eventually, that went away.  I had all stitches since I was done by Dr. De Smet.  I have a very fine scar line, but have very sensitive skin.

You are enough post op to start rubbing vitamine E oil on your scar.  That might help some too.

Good Luck.
