Insurance for Canadian travelling to South Carolina

Hi ,
I am scheduled for a hip resurfacing with Dr. Gross and I am trying to arrange medical insurance.
Because the purpose of the trip is medical treatment, I am termed a medical tourist and as such I can not get any insurance . I had the good luck to find a great insurance broker who found one company who would  cover emergencies but would have nothing to do with the procedure. So if I get hit by a bus in South Carolina  I am covered but if I have complications from the surgery I have no insurance.
I am wondering what other people are doing about insurance.

That kind of insurance sounds like a tall order.  Certainly no insurance company is going to sign up to insure you immediately before a procedure.  If an insurance broker can't hook you up, I doubt that random message board people can help, but you never know.  Good luck.

P.S.  Dr. Gross is the BEST!
