10 days out from my surgery w/ dr gross and remain excited and nervous.  want to thank everyone on this site that has posted their own stories (incredibly helpful and inspiring at times) and those who have taken time to respond to my infrequent posts.  as many of you can probably relate to and imagine, i'm not nervous about the surgery itself.  i've read far too many stories about how incredible dr gross and his staff are at midlands to have any doubts or concerns.  i'm most nervous about the after.  the post-op stories seem to vary quite a bit - pain, crutches, walking, swelling... it is endless.  i know mine will have its own trajectory but am finding it hard to tamp down my ever optimistic views (of everything).  picked up my borrowed ice unit from a friend who had his surgery with dr gross ~13 months ago and he is going snowboarding in park city on the day of my surgery and i know he is an aggressive snowboarder.  that inspires me.  i know there are a lot more miles left in my tank - i'd like to once again use some of them running in my hometown nyc marathon or finding my way down ali'i drive one more time.  lfg!

You'll be fine.  As you know, Dr. Gross is THE BEST.  Yes, we each have our own trajectory, but the vast, vast majority return to a full active life.  I myself have had both done, and I never really could run again any measurable distance.  I know I've documented my story here, so I won't re-hash it all.  But I can do EVERYTHING else.  It's weird how a steady-state jog (~10-11 min. per mile) would create a deep ache in the repaired hip, but an hour of HIIT training would not.  Regardless, most do return to whatever it is they love.

Just....take...the.....recovery.....slow.  Don't push anything.  Best of luck!
