Has anyone had a Hip resurfacing done by Dr. Alexander McLawhorn at HSS in NYC or Stamford CT? any thoughts? experiences? Thank you in advance.

Went to see him for a consultation. Was very patient and discussed a lot of topics with me, I did not feel rushed and he addressed all my questions.

On resurfacing topic he didn't give me an exact number, said he'd like to do more and said he does roughly 10-20 a year vs ~400 THR.

A few things he mentioned that made me question my desire to do HR, 1 the metal ions issue seems to be more relevant as time progresses so while not an issue initially it may be 20 years down the line which is why THR are believed to last longer. The other thing he mentioned was the difference in athletic performance is at the margins, so if you're a professional athlete, yes every tiny bit matters, but if you're a regular guy who does some competitions like combat, cross fit, tennis, whatever, it's unlikely you'll see any diff.
