Dr. Gross resurfaced my left hip February 2011.  I enjoyed many years of pain free hips, but the same problem that plagued my left hip, eventually occurred on the right side, only 12 years later.  Given what a great result I had with the first one I knew I would go back to Dr. Gross this second time.

The protocol and procedure was a little bit different this time around the biggest difference being that the surgery is done outpatient.  The first time around the surgery takes place in the hospital that’s across the street from the hotel this time around I had the surgery about 15 minutes away at the Midlands surgery center and then I returned that night to my hotel room.  A nurse visit. See you in the evening and Dr. Gross pays you a house called in your hotel room the day after surgery.  Another big difference was the first time around in 2011. He suggested that you stay locally for at least a week to 10 days to recover this time. He said I could leave on day two.  So instead of sticking around in South Carolina for a while after surgery, I had my surgery on Wednesday and I flew home Friday.  I am typing this message Saturday while my hip is connected to the ice machine from the comfort of my bed!

I can definitely say that the pain decreases day by day I was super sore day one and day two today on day three I feel noticeably better although I’ve also been icing off and on all day long.

It’s good to know that Dr. Gross is still helping people with his hip resurfacing procedure.  I will post up some follow ups as I re over over the next few weeks.
