Need for post surgery follow-up, regular check-ups

I'm stuck between two options. Can't decide if I should stick with a local NYC/HSS based Boettner or McLawhorn. Or go out of state to FL or SC for Brooks or Gross.

I spoke with all of them and honestly I like all of them. The out of state option scares me a bit in terms of post surgery follow-up. I spoke to Brooks today and he was pretty dismissive of metal ions being a concern at all. Is there any need to be close to the doc that did the surgery once the surgery is done? What are your thoughts?

had my rt hip done by gross in sc 2/22 - live in central oh.  one year followup was local x-rays and visit with physical therapist.  sent everything to gross and got a letter back stating all good.  gross wants an in person 2 year followup to do x-rays, pt eval and blood work.  my recall is he doesn't do one year blood work because it will be elevated but tends to normalize by 2nd year.  i couldn't be happier with my results.
