Grew up skateboarding, 14x Ironman , surfer, cant even sit on the damn surfboard anymore (although I have developed a a very unique popup technique  =).  Surgery is next Wednesday, live on the west coast and will provide updates !

You will be good. I am also a bi lat patient at 37 and after I was fully healed up, I feel like I am surfing close to 100% if not 100%. I don't notice my hips at all and my popup is quick with good form.

Surgery was 2 weeks ago today in NYC. That first day, Thursday was just brutal, had been fasting since Tuesday PM, surgery was Wednesday at 1pm, came out at 6pm , nurse had given me three Oxys over the course of that first night. PT came in Thursday AM (before breakfast) and tried to get me up and walking, I think it was just too soon and I fainted! Have never fainted in my life. Rest of Thursday was pretty tough, stopped taking Oxy Thursday AM full stop. friday was like a brand new world! Cleared PT and was back in hotel Friday afternoon. Got a blood thinner and flew home with a walker to Southern California Sunday. Used recumbent bike for first time Monday AM,  by Day 6, (Tuesday) was onto crutches and was biking 10 miles on recumbent bike. Fast forward to today, 2/28, walking one mile a day with single cane, biking 15 miles on recumbent every AM and can walk a couple hundred yards with no cane.  More to come !
