Had my surgery on Sept. 15 by Dr. Schmalzried in Los Angeles.  I was shocked and humbled by how weak I was immediately afterwards, but now I'm stronger every day.  They had me on an epidural for 24 hours.  After I was disconnected, I took one pain pill a night for 4 nights - really no pain, just discomfort.  That was it for pain pills.  Basically, I have NO PAIN!!!

I had my first real physical therapy (16 days after surgery).  The first thing she did was call all the girls into a back room to see my scar.  They were all so excited cause they had only seen full hip replacements.  Some hadn't heard of resurfacing.  They all oohed and ahhhed over it cause it looked so good.  Then as we did some exercises, she kept yelling to the others, "look at this".  They couldn't believe the difference.  I could do things that take reg hip replacements four or five appointments to do.  Some were hard to do, but nothing hurt.  Then she took away one of my crutches! 

I am just so happy and thankful that I heard of resurfacing and was lucky enough to get it.  Life is good.

Congratulations!  That is great news.

Glad you are doing so well.  Keep up the great recovery.  You will be running all over pretty soon.
