Any working uniformed officers out there that have had a resurfacing?......or can attest to how recovery and police gear and equipment are effected by the surgery or the prosthetic?

There have been many firefighters, police and some military folks that have had resurfacing and returned to service.  It took training and dedication, but it has happened a number of times.  I would have to do a search to find the info.  I will when I get a chance.
