Just wanted to update everyone. i had my hardware removed Tuesday after breaking my trochanter in a bike crash last April. Bone has healed, BHR is perfect and glad the plate and screws are out. One screw did break, so I still have a screw in my femur but no big deal. I posted a picture in the gallery of the titanium plate and screws. All is well, thanks.

I was wondering how it was going, Spencer - good news (except for the extra screw loose  ::) ).

That original xray was impressive, now you're just another healthy hippie  ;D

Congrats Spencer, was hoping all was well, I remember reading about your fall and cringing for you.   That pic was incredble to say the least, amazing recovery.

Many great years ahead!

Best regards

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. I've been riding outside and teaching indoor cycling with the plate and screws in since August. The IT band feels so much better with the metal out. After 3 days of recovering I was back on the indoor trainer and at one week I was teaching classes again. Will venture outside this weekend. Get the sutures out Monday and should be good to go for racing season (Time Trials only). Thank again for your support. If you ever want to come out to Tucson for some great training, just let me know.

take care,

Great news Spencer,
Your fantastic optimism and determination has lead to your recovery and will ensure a return to full fitness. Proves what's possible with the right outlook and approach.
Out of interest-I've had 3 screws which were deeply embedded following the removal of my femoral plate for over 35 years! Also, I must dig out and photograph my old pin and plate-sure mine's bigger than yours!
