1 month Left side, 3 months Right side.
The right side feels wonderful. I have no pain whatsoever in it and a range of movement that I haven't had for years. I hope the left side feels the same 2 months from now. I'm looking forward to going for big long walks with the dog in a couple of months, hiking in the Spring and Skiing next season

4 weeks Today!  ;D

Still need the cane but I can tell it won't be too much longer before I begin to leave it behind.

Blood thinners and stockings are done as of today.  Will continue to take Vitamin C (500 mg a day) and low dose asprin.

I had my best day of Physical Therapy so far ever this morning, less pain, more flexibility.  Therapist is stretching me just barely shy of that magic 90 degree mark.  Able to do straight leg lifts w/o strap or assistance, although they are difficult.

Walking 300+ yards a day without having to stop and two 30 minute sessions on the stationary recumbent bike.  Stamina/energy is up and down, but improving every day, feeling about 80% normal at this time.

Incision continues to heal well but I've still got those darn strips on my butt, doc's office says they need to stay until they fall off.  Darn things itch at night.

Now that the swelling is nearly completely gone (just some on the upper end of hip), I've noticed some shrinking of my thigh muscle.  PT says its atrophy, which really surprised me.  Planning on specific exercises to address this development.  Started to use ankle weights for knee bends.

Three months, 1 week & 2 days.

Doing daily elliptical training for 35 minutes, stretching and strenthening.  Lifting up to 50 pounds.  Feels normal.

Need to wait 6 months post-op for bones to fully heal to begin impact sports and lift over 50 pounds.

9 weeks post op, feeling so good that I have to remember to take it easy.  No pain in the hip, (remember your pain before the surgery) and now my biggest problem is I want to return to my sports for I feel so good.  I stopped my PT 2 weeks ago for my active lifestyle is enough.  Thanks for putting up the "hip stories of resurfaces gone bad"  if I didn't read some of those stories, I just might be kiting already, I want to keep my resurface, so I am trying to be patient.

Congratulations Andy!  I entered the poll back then at 3 months old for the LBHR which is now over 13 years old.  The RBHR is over 2 years old.  Nearly 1/2 (48.6%) respondents had resurfacings for 6 months or less.

Mike from Wisconsin

Today, my right side is 19 years old; Cormet implant on a clinical trial. Left side is 17 years old using a Wright implant. Both done by Dr. Stachniw in Galesburg, Illinois. I was 50 after the 2nd surgery.
Great experience with Dr. Stachniw and nurse, Debra! I remained active, tennis, swimming, biking, slow jogging, walking, and now pickleball. But, I have pain in my right side.
How long do re-surfacing surgeries hold up for active patients? I'm 67 years old now.
