Hi All,


When 36 back in February 2011, I was diagnosed with left hip OA and that night I poured over this site and decided some day I would get a BHR.


Now at 43, my hip has not gotten worse past the detioration that happened about six months after diagnosis in context of soft tissue injuries.


I feel it every day, but don't hold back on sports. Except running. I used to run at a fairly high level, and have not run in many years.


Just woundering if anyone knows about any new statistics on longevity of hip resurfacing for those who do a lot of running -- hills, marathons, sprinting, etc.


I find it really sad not being able to do something you love. I wish my hip were better and I could run again. But I worry about:


1. Going under the knife, and


2. Getting a hip resurfacing, and needing it revised to a THR when I'm 60 or 70.


Can anyone update me on status of research or their own experiences?

 :) Hi.If your resurfacing is done correctly it will most probably last the rest of your life.They take a hammering. The design is different than conventional THR. Figures are around ask Pat for more but at 20 years BHR is 95% success rate. Most surgeons hold their own records but ask some of the worlds best of their figures.Cheers K
