That's great news Ruby.  When you get your BHR, be sure to start a new thread because you are starting a new life.

Good Luck.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  Even if the slim possibility of a THR would happen, the large ball, mom thrs or ceramic thrs allow you to be just as active as with a hip resurfacing.  I would keep the faith and know you are going for a BHR.

I'm not sure why he was undecided at first. He went out in the middle of the consultation to re-check my scans that's when he came in and asked what I'd like him to do for me.

Thats my biggest worry. Surgeons keep telling me to wait and I dont think I can anymore. In my opinion, why waste your life and your youth away on crutches now just so that your ok when im 70. It just doesnt make sense. I see why surgeons want to put it off as long as possible as theres nothing better than your natural joint and replacements only last so long .... but when someone is in so much pain?

Oh well, that doesnt matter for you now missie. Very excited for you. I love Pats thoughts ..... get ready to start your new life  ;D

Ultimately I think that is what made the decision for him. We'd tried every avenue, tried every possible procedure and in the end he's had no choice.

Ruby I knew that would be the news you'd Get. Don't worry about ending up with a thr, if he said there was a "slim" chance of a thr then if I know him that's a very very very small chance he hates doing thr's and if it's possible then he's the man I've said it before he's THE most experienced man on the planet your in the best hands possible!!!! Hugs and kisses im pleased the end is in sight for you.

Anna, keep hanging on. A year ago I was all for throwing in the towel. Convinced nothing or no one could help... even Mr Treacy at first said no, even today to begin with he wasn't 100%. Don't give up fighting.

Mr T told me about a new device he and his partner have divised made especially for women, apparently he gets better results in male BHR's, but it's still in the 'experimental' stages.

That's interesting about a new device. However remember things in orthopaedics move very very slowly. The BHR is still considered new in many circles!

Thanks Guys, great news all round, the Cormet is fine on the left, it's a mini hip on the right, a Corin short stem! Initially he wanted to scope first but he really understood that life has got to the point where we were off to shop for wheelchairs, think about moving house and that the whole family's lives were on hold. As he put it, a case of out out damn spot. So relieved. So we are all set for 14th August. Getting back from Cambridge will be a bit of a trial but guys on here fly all over the world after surgery so I shall try not to be a wimp.  Thanks for all the good wishes, just Anna to get sorted now, any letters in the post today? Xx

That's awesome, Sal!

Good news on both counts, that the Cormet is in good shape, and the replacement on the right. My brother in law had a Corin mini hip (short stem) put in last year, has done great with it, is working out four times a week and loving not having pain.

Really good.
