I think if Mr T agrees to operate then I will cry with happiness - literally! He didn't come across to me as a surgeon who will leave his patients in pain. My surgeon down here was quite happy to and believe me once i know the state of play after my next appointment with Mr T, then a letter will be written to my former surgeon stating just how wrong he was to say that surgery will not fix me and no other surgeon will operate.

There is hope! So pleased that your situation looks more positive Ruby. I thought of you all when on hols, the warm weather helped a bit but the travelling really hurt. Still picking up the pieces and cold damp Scottish weather isn't helping. Feel like a pill box, putting so many in at the moment. I'm hoping for my own bit of positivity next Thursday .... But glad for you Ruby, still have fingers xed that mr T agrees. Who was your surgeon before?

I'm not quite sure I should name and shame Sal, but lets just say I wouldn't rate the Orthopaedic department in Southend.

Did you have a good holiday?x

Lovely thanks Ruby, the wheelchair service was essential, travelling was hard. Two weeks of sunshine and warmth and a pool were fantastic. Am now convinced that ive staved off ricketts for another year! Not to mention the food, I put the Dukan down over the hols but am catching up now, am hoping the surgeon sees that I'm willing to do my bit, although no improvement in pain yet despite 8 kg loss. You are right not to name and shame, sorry to ask. Any more news for you? Or for you Anna? X

No news from me as yet. Still awaiting my appointment for Mr Treacy. Hopefully shouldn't be too long.

I did have a sickness review at work yesterday which I was almost given my first warning in over 8 years :-( It's just added stress really.

Ruby, I used to be in HR, they should not be giving you a warning! You are  a member of staff who has a disability currently, they should be working with you to accommodate your problems not adding to the stress. Obviously I don't know how they treated you but I'd suggest that you have a chat with your GP and then book a meeting with your HR officer. Try and get them to see how you are being affected, what they might do to assist (better ergonomic chair, flex working, or even a temp change to your working practices) as an 8yr member of staff you have longevity on your side, a demonstrable committment to your company and they have a legal obligation to facilitate your working there and they also have an obligation to treat you humanely and not add to your circumstances with stress. I'd advise you wrote them a letter to convey all of this and use it in your meeting to discuss issues, a letter from your GP in your hand bag should you need it as a back up.
I'm so sorry you've been treated this way. Hang in there!  Xx Sal

That`s really bad of them Ruby, stress only makes pain worse too. Should you still even be trying to work? Or at least they should help as Sal suggested.

It's horrible, damp and cold here in Essex so the hip is suffering. Dosed up to the eyeballs with painkillers today! How are you?

Great about the appointment, bad about the pain - wishing you good weather and clear sailing.

I'm better than yesterday but am taking such a lot of painkillers that I'm totally out of it, I know there are many out in the world who spend a fortune trying to achieve that  ;) but I hate it. I've got a new pain management system from the doc, so need to give it a while to settle down. I'm on meloxicam and BuTrans patches, Tramadol top ups or cocodamol top ups and some codeine so ican alternate and my sleeping tablets which I use when hubby is home so that I don't disturb him. The co-codamol has lost its effectiveness  :( but hopefully by alternating I won't get more used to it. All that stuff only takes the edge off so I don't know what is next. Sorry to hear you're no having such a great day. Only a few days to go tho Ruby, I am sure Mr T is going to give you what you need! Xx

Ruby thats great news!!!! If Mr T agrees to opperate on you(which im hopeful of!!) then make it clear to the staff both on his team and the pre op assesment team that you dont mind taking a cancelation date at short notice. Thats what i did and it took 3 weeks off my wait for the op :D

How long did you have to wait Danny if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks to all for their love and support. It's really great to know there are people out there who understand.

Erm I was given a date that was around 12 weeks after my first appointment and then I was sent a letter offering me a date 3 or 4 works earlier so i jumped on it :D so it was around 8/9 weeks. Mr T is loved by the operating theatre manager as he can do so many ops in a short slot. He does rattle them off. He did like 5or6 the morning he did me!
