Brett’s Hip Resurfacing Dr. Boyd 2008
August 23, 2008 I’m on day 13 with a Cormet hip resurface RH from Dr Boyd in Salem OR.Very impressive and experienced team of staff with around 6oo HR under there belt. I did my due diligence before embarking on this resurface by meeting surgeons from OR,WA,CA and Australia.
My recovery seems to be going backwards, I’m relying on crutches, couldn’t imagine a step without them and oxyconitn and viocodin heavily. I was better when I was in Hospital than I am now. My pains coming from the lower back/butt area and it all feels like nerve sensations shooting all over the hip. The hip feels unstable and meds don’t stop the nerve shooting thru the butt lower back.
It’s painful to lift my leg and get into bed or on the couch. I went to a PT Friday and was in agony by that evening and he only put a electronic impulse and ice on the hip.
I’m 47 in great health very active and I’m surprised I’m not walking by now. I was told by Dr. Boyd teds for 3 weeks as well as crutches and coumadin for 30 days post op.
September 1, 2008 I’m 3 weeks post op right hip cormet resurface. My joint feels good and Im off the oxycontin but still taking vicodin for pain a couple times a day.
However across my lower back where it meets my butt I have sharp pain shooting back and forth when I put weight on the leg and try and walk.
This muscle/nerve pain stops any effort to try and walk independent of crutches. I know there are a lot of nerve endings in the muscles connecting the butt to the lower back. It truly feels like they tried to tear my leg off under anesthesia its that kind of feeling.
Exercise seems to be relieving the pain slowly in the butt muscle area which was very very painful for a couple weeks.
