Dr. Brooks paper published in the Journal of Arthroplasty detailing his 10 year results of hip resurfacing on April 22, 2022.
Males are 99%, females 91%This is all comers, (age, pre-op diagnosis, size including those that are no longer available), and includes my personal learning curve. Strong evidence for BHR in males.
At a minimum 10-year follow-up, hip resurfacing, using an implant with a good track record, demonstrates 99.0% survivorship in male patients with an average age of 52 years. We believe that the continued use of metal-on-metal hip resurfacing arthroplasty in this population is justified by both positive patient reported outcomes and survivorship.
