Jac Kennesaw Hip Resurfacing 2010
Jac Kennesaw Hip Resurfacing
October 29, 2010
I am 1 week 2 days into post op recovery. I had mine on Oct. 20th. Not too bad. Still on walker with tightness in quad and hip. Swelling is confined to just hip area and not that bad. Still on pain meds and muscle relaxers. Walking with walker 10 minutes. Advice for pre op is to work all leg muscles in the gym. Concentrate on range of motion and stretching. Don’t forget cardio. Important in keeping blood pressure in good range. I’m 56, 185 lbs. and always have been very active. Hip took a lot in youth from karate since I was right side dominate. Doc said no cartilage left, but no cists and good surface for BHR. Sleeping at night sucks. I highly suggest a recliner. The recliner has been my lifesafer. Easy in, easy out and can give you different positions to take pressure off different points of your body. If you do not have a recliner, go buy one.

I am almost 2weeks and using a walker instead of crutches. Walker more stable and takes a load off arms. I worked hard pre op to work all leg muscles and keep range of motion. Walking good now with no limp and hope to move to cane in week or so. Dr. Does not want me on crutches since weight bearing continues to work well with walker. Gets easier every day. Off pain meds and starting to feel a little normal.

The first 2 weeks were the toughest. Now I feel great! Went to the mall with the wife and walked a lot. Still on cane, but really starting to Walk smoothly. Hip moves more freely. I am so pumped! I can’t wait to all movement with no restrictions. I consider myself In the dangerous area now feeling good, but with all restrictions still on. You always have to be aware of how you move, sit, etc. This is the beginning of our new life without pain and mobile once again!
