Can’t get too technical but I just had the anterior (lateral) approach last week by Dr. Mont. He explained to me that this is his preference and in over 600 procedures only 1 has not worked to expectation. He is very precise and only cuts through gluteus minimus. I am 10 days post-op and feel great, I move around on 1 crutch very well. He has specific ROM precautions but expect full
recovery with no limitations by 3-4 months. I am very satisfied. Each surgeon will have their personal comfort level. I think the approach is less important than the experience and success of the surgeon. I have about a 8-10 incision lateral aspect of hip.Email direct for any more questions. Glad to answer.
