Jr’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Dr. Schemitsch 2016
Had my left hip resurfaced in June 2016. 46 yrs old male. Hockey injury tore my hip labral. Very little cartilage to repair, referred to Dr. Schemitsch. A long wait list, but well worth it! First couple weeks of recovery was very rough as expected. Don’t feel discouraged, it will take time. Feather-weight restrictions for 6 weeks, then used cane until 3 months. Did my home physio following their documentation and also did physio at my local hospital after weight restrictions were lifted. Strongly recommend doing the physio at your local hospital as it really helped and covered by ohip. I’m 6+ months post-op now and Dr. Schemitsch has given me back my life and I am so greatful. He is extremely busy for followups and his assistance’s were great. (Dr. Nick Matlovich) I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone who would want to do hip resurfacing. It is a tougher/longer procedure, but he is highly skilled and knows what he is doing. Operation was flawless. I went for several years in pain with my hip locking, and shooting pain down to my knee. Sometimes I thought my knee was worse than my hip, but it turned out just to be my referred hip pain. No more pain in my knee or hip. No more sleepless nights. Can’t express my gratitude enough! Thanks, I never thought I’d be able to play hockey again. Even if its just for fun / shinny with the guys, I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice anytime now.
