Kay Glynn Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Dr. Gross 2013-2016
Published on Jul 22, 2016
On the evening prior to taking part in track and field, Kay performed 3 routines at the Iowa Games in Ames, Iowa, on July 15 2016. This was 6 months after her second hip resurfacing.
When Dr. Gross resurfaced my right hip in August of 2013, he told me that I would be able to do all the activities that I normally enjoyed doing. He was right! This photo was taken the day I regained my number one ranking in the world for pole vaulting women ages 60-64. I was thrilled to be the only female to pole vault with a resurfaced hip! I did cartwheels to celebrate!
With my successful surgery giving me back my life, I didn’t hesitate when it came time to get my left hip resurfaced. In January, 2016, I made the trip from Iowa to South Carolina for my out-patient surgery. The surgery and my progress back to a normal life has been even easier this time. I remain patient, follow my doctor’s orders like I did the last time and look forward to getting back to the track and field competitions and acrobatics that have become staples in my life. Many thanks to all the wonderful people at Gross Ortho who helped make my surgery a very easy and pleasant experience! Go team!
