Suze Bilateral Hip Resurfacing Mr. McMinn 2011
Had both mine done on Dec 6, 2011 by Mr. McMinn in Birmingham. He and his staff were superb, felt was in the best possible hands. The weekend before I was crying with the pain in bed, bent over when walking in agony.
The hospital was excellent.
When I came too afterwards I was on a high, didn’t sleep until 4am when the tubes etc. were removed. Had pain when epidural was taken out, staff soon sorted that out. Day two was faint when attempting to walk so had two pints of blood, after which felt much better. Came home after a week, only taking Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. Healing pain was nothing compared to the agony beforehand. Exercises have become easier as time as past, especially last couple of days, felt the strength returning, had a great day today:)
Had both mine done on Dec 6th. Do I reget it? NO!! Everyone feels nervous before sugery, it`s normal. The way I looked at it was this. I wanted to have both done together, that way I was on the upward path. Not a case of Oh dear, next BHR in a week or few months, no point. Honestly it wasn`t bad at all. Ok so you don`t have a “good leg” to support- but I didn`t anyway!! You have to use crutches for one so may as well be for two! The sheer joy of being pain free, knowing you`re then just healing was wonderful. I was on a high Honestly people were amazed at my progress, so take heart, you have made the right choice.
At six weeks I had hardly any pain UNTIL I went swimming for 20 mins!! Like you I felt the sky had fallen in. But was told by hospital had simply overdone it and to rest til back as before .then go for 5mins. Apparently where muscles haven’t been used they very quickly weaken, can actually happen after no use for 6 days!! So don’t worry:) It really is slow and little:)
