Evant’s 8 Year Anniversary Hip Resurfacing with Mr. Treacy 2013
Very happy to reach my 8th anniversary.
8 years ago, on the day before the operation, I remember feeling like a broken 50 year old man – quite unable to walk from the hospital entrance to my hospital room without using the corridor hand rail to support me.
Thanks to the incredible brilliance of my surgeon Ronan Treacy I feel very lucky that he was able to fix me.
I really enjoy my cycling, my hiking, and my swimming. However, I am one of the small percentage of patients who was unable to return to regular distance running, so @400 metres is about my limit on a good day.
In the months prior to my operation Pat Walter’s website www.surfacehippy.info guided me from quite a desperate position to a place where everything was ok in my world again – and I never forget how incredible that transformation was for me.
Prior to finding Pat, and www.surfachippy.info, my local hip surgeon had offered to resurface my hip with a German ACCIS ceramic device. Thankfully for me I didn’t feel he exuded confidence regarding his hip resurfacing experience (only @20 procedures in @2 years) and I was also unable to obtain trustworthy data regarding the reliability of the ACCIS device. I’ve since discovered that it had a terrible failure rate and caused significant suffering and further operations / revisions for the affected patients.
I give sincere thanks to wonderful Pat Walter.
I also thank Hernanu, Dannywayoflife, MikeD, and Einreb for stunning advice, support, and practical help – Danny and Mike thankfully pointed me towards seeking a consultation / 2nd opinion with their surgeon (Ronan Treacy).
